Artists gear up for Southworks
The 14th annual Southworks 2009 Arts Festival will showcase artwork from 65 artists both local and regional, while music keeps the airwaves grooving and kids will have a place to exercise their imaginations.

The festival will be held Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation in downtown Watkinsville.
The free performances will be held on an outdoor stage in front of the School Street Studios and in the sculptor garden beside the OCAF Center.
The concerts will include jazz, blues, folk country, soul, gospel and salsa.
The music schedule is:
Saturday: Jeff Soileau; Grogus; Grains of Sand; Jazzchronic; Porch to the People; Sean Arrington; Mad Whiskey Grin; Collateral Relations; and Carl Lindbery.
Sunday: Tropical Breeze; Packway Handle; Solstice Sisters; School of Rock; Curley Maple; Ricky Fitzpatrick; Chris Henderson; Rob & Chris; and Doyle Lightfoot.
The music begins at 11 a.m. each day and runs through 3:30 p.m.
A food court will be set up for various vendors to provide a wide range of food.
OCAF has planned a free Kidswork gathering in the School Street Studio for children to see art demonstrations and take hands-on art lessons.
Besides the artist market, visitors can tour the OCAF Center to view this year's juried art exhibit as well as the Director's Choice exhibit, which features work by Terry Rowlett. The juried exhibit features artwork from artists across the nation.
Southworks originated in 1996 in conjunction with the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
